ReWind launches floating wind support

ReWind launches floating wind support

Floating wind is one of the fastest-growing segments of the offshore wind industry, expected to grow nearly ten-fold to 250GW by 2030 (RenewableUK).

Decommissioning plans are already a requirement in offshore tender applications, and with a larger volume of floating projects now entering the pipeline, developers need tools that can handle the unique components and logistics involved at end-of-life. With this release, ReWind are bringing full floating wind project support, giving operators the same depth of decommissioning analysis as you rely on for fixed-bottom offshore and onshore wind.

What's new:

Model complete floating wind projects

Add floaters, mooring lines, and anchors alongside turbines and array/export cables. ReWind breaks down every component into its constituent materials, drawing on our DNV dataset to give you a full picture of what your floating project is made of.

Decommissioning scenarios with primary and secondary ports

Model scenarios with both a primary and secondary port, so you can compare cost outcomes for different logistical strategies.

Circularity rates for floating wind

Understand what percentage of your floating wind farm can be recycled, reused, or recovered at end-of-life. Circularity metrics that feed directly into your CSRD and sustainability reporting.

Critical raw materials analysis

Identify and quantify the critical raw materials embedded in your floating assets, essential for compliance with the EU Critical Raw Materials Act (CRMA) and for making informed decisions about material recovery.

Optimize cost assumptions

Every floating project is different. In the Configuration settings, you can now adjust cost assumptions specific to floating wind, from heavy-lift vessel rates to removal time per anchor, so your analysis reflects your actual operating context.

Generate floating decommissioning audit-ready reports.

Just like with our onshore and bottom-fixed offerings, you can export audit-ready reports for floating.

What's coming next

This is version 1 of floating wind in ReWind, and we're already working on what comes next. Seasons support, which will enable you to account for seasonal weather windows in your decommissioning planning, is planned for early Q2.
