ReWind is the end-of-life decision-making platform for renewable energy assets. Owners, operators and developers of wind farms use it to model decommissioning costs, size and optimise decommissioning bonds and provisions, report on materials and circularity, and decide when to repower, extend life or decommission.
ReWind is a software product, not a consultancy, not a decommissioning contractor and not a broker. It does not carry out physical decommissioning, does not provide on-site or O&M services, and does not certify. It holds no commercial stake in what an owner decides to do with the turbines, which is why its estimates can be used to check and challenge third-party numbers.
Mission: empowering end-of-life decisions for renewables through software. Vision: building a circular future for renewable energy.
ReWind began as an innovation project inside DNV in late 2021. The first product launched in June 2023, and ReWind became a separate company on 1 February 2025, purchasing the underlying IP from DNV. DNV is a shareholder and a commercial channel, not ReWind’s parent. Offices are in Oslo and Ireland.
Coverage today spans onshore wind, offshore bottom-fixed wind and floating wind, across the full asset lifecycle: setting bonds before construction, updating costs and provisions during operation, and the end-of-life decision itself. Subscriptions are annual and are limited by the number of projects (wind farms), not by the number of users.
Product
Product overview: The ReWind platform - decommissioning cost modelling, bond sizing, circularity and compliance reporting across the asset lifecycle.
Decommissioning bonds: Sizing and optimising the financial security owners must hold, and exporting bond reports in the formats councils and auditors expect.
Decommissioning plans: Bottom-up decommissioning cost estimates and plans, rebuilt whenever assumptions, prices or site conditions change.
Offshore tenders: Decommissioning cost and recyclability inputs for offshore tender and auction submissions.
Sustainability and circularity: Wind farm material breakdown, circularity rate, avoided emissions and critical raw materials analysis for CSRD and tender reporting.
Cost benchmarking: Comparing decommissioning costs across a portfolio and against real decommissioning projects.
Repower: Wind farm repowering analysis – finds the economically optimal year to repower an ageing wind farm and compares repowering against life extension and decommissioning, using NPV across the old and new farm.
